Philippines: Comelec, Smartmatic sign P7.2-B poll automation deal.

Section: General News - The Commission on Elections (Comelec) and joint venture-firm Smartmatic Corp. Total Information Management (TIM) Corp. signed today the P7.2 billion poll automation contract.

Comelec chairman Jose Melo led the signing of the 25-pages contract with TIM senior vice president Salvador Aque; Smartmatic International Corp. chief financial officer Armando Yanes; and Smartmatic TIM Corp. chairman Juan Villa Jr.

The contractsigning was delayed by more than an hour, as it was signed by the parties at 4:45 pm, the contract signing was original scheduled at 2 pm.
