RP renews pledge to fight money laundering.

THE PHILIPPINE GOVERNMENT has reiterated its commitment to fight money laundering during the recently concluded 12th annual meeting of the Asia Pacific Group in Brisbane, Australia, saying that reforms were underway to tighten the countrys measures against money laundering.

During the meeting held last week, representatives from the Philippines reported that proposed amendments to the Anti-Money Laundering Act had been submitted to Congress. The proposals are aimed at putting more teeth into the law so that the authorities would have better capabilities to detect money laundering activities.
