Vencor to expand presence with two new local projects.

EAST DALLAS - Long-term health care provider Vencor Inc. is moving through the Metroplex on an expansion swing.

The Louisville, Ky.-based company plans to open a hospital-within-a-hospital unit March 15 at Doctors Hospital in East Dallas.

At the same time, it's putting the finishing touches on a new freestanding facility, located at 9505 Greenville Ave. just south of Interstate 635.

That 52-bed hospital, with a six-bed intensive care unit, is scheduled to open in May. It replaces the smaller Vencor Hospital-Dallas on Abrams Road.

The new hospital will also include an adjacent 60-bed skilled nursing/subacute unit.
