FOR THE PAST 26 YEARS, FOR ONE weekend in July, the hills of Schenley Park in downtown Pittsburgh have exploded in mechanical mayhem. During those few days, the winding roads and sweeping hills of the picturesque park become home to an electrifying mix of high-revving, exhaust-bellowing vintage sports cars, from Aston Martins to Ferraris and Bugattis to MGs.
The Pittsburgh Vintage Grand Prix, which is celebrating its 27th anniversary July 18-19, remains the only vintage race to be held on city streets in the United Statesa spectacular show reminiscent of road racing from the "50s, when spectators stood mere inches from the race cars.
