SABC unions push for pay rise Media Correspondent THE SABC faces yet another battle today, this time with its own employees.

The public broadcaster is due to face trade unions at the Commission for Conciliation, Mediation and Arbitration this morning.

Attitudes have hardened after the SABC management's decision to call in the police on Friday to prevent staff from carrying out plans to protest outside acting group CEO Gab Mampone's office.

Unions at the SABC are demanding that the public broadcaster implement a 12,2% salary hike as it is obliged to do so according to a multiyear salary agreement it signed with unions.
