MOUNTAIN rescue teams are to receive GBP300,000 from the Scottish Government this year.

The funding, which is the same as last year, was announced by Community Safety Minister Fergus Ewing yesterday on a visit to the Lomond mountain rescue team, of which he is a former member.

'The Scottish Government fully recognises the vital role of the mountain rescue teams as they go to the aid of those who get into difficulty on our mountains,' he said.

'I am therefore delighted to confirm that we will continue to support the Mountain Rescue Committee of Scotland with GBP300,000 …
