BRUSSELS

Several EU government representatives have told Europe's highest court that conferences should have no exemption to set common inland tariffs under EC Regulation 4056/86.

The advocate general of the European Court of Justice heard oral comments made by senior government representatives and civil servants, marking the formal start of court proceedings of the Scandinavia U.K. North Continent Arabian Gulf (SUNAG) conference case, the lead case on the issue of intermodal pricing by conferences.
