FRY: A NEW CHAPTER

When Rights mentioned the late Varian Fry last June 30, his Surrender on

Demand, out of print in the U.S. for half a century, had been acquired for

trade paperback by Johnson Books in Boulder, Colo., and Barbra Streisand was

planning a TV film about the author. An American counterpart of Oskar

Schindler, operating in Marseilles, Fry helped more than 4000 politicians,

artists, writers, scientists and musicians escape the Nazis.
