Cross River State House of Assembly has called on the federal government to compensate the state for its loss of the oil-rich Bakassi Peninsula to Cameroon and 67 oil wells to neighbouring Akwa Ibom State.

In a six-point resolution yesterday, the Speaker, Mr Francis Adah, said "the Federal Government should appropriately compensate Cross River State and its people in perpetuity, for the ceding of the oil rich Bakassi Peninsula and displacement of its population, which was done in the corporate interest of the nation."
