This is the first entirely new GSX-R1000 in 10 years, with all-new engine, chassis, bodywork and titanium exhaust system. It is slightly lighter than its predecessor, despite the need for dual-exhaust mufflers to meet tightening noise regulations, and it makes about 155 hp at 11,500 rpm, measured at the rear wheel. For beginners and rainy conditions, a three-stage engine-power map switch (called the Suzuki Drive Mode Selector) changes power-delivery characteristics.
