The NHRA took its first step toward potentially slowing down the action in its top two categoriesFunny Car and Top Fuelwith an unpublicized test on May 18, the day after the national event in Bristol, Tenn.
Dan Olson, the NHRA's director of nitro racing, enlisted the help of Funny Car driver Tim Wilkerson to test a smaller engine (413 cid, down from 500) and reduced supercharger revolutions.
