Taps in parts of Owerri municipality have run dry, while scores of households have resorted to drawing water from the largely polluted Otamiri River for family use.

The most affected parts of the municipality includes Emmanuel College Layout, Anokwu Street, Oyima Street, Odueze Street, Uzubi Street, Chidomara Street, Onyeche Street, World Bank Housing Estate and parts of Umuodu Village.

The conveniences located in the homes now stink, following the acute scarcity of potable water to properly flush the systems.
