Section: General News - The Thai Meteorological Department reports that a low pressure trough appears over the northern and upper northeastern regions of Thailand, while strong southwestern monsoon winds prevail over parts of nation, the Andaman Sea and the Gulf of Thailand. Torrential rain is expected over the country during this period.

Residents of Chiang Rai, Phayao, Sukhothai, Phetchabun, Rayong, Chanthaburi, Trat, Phetchaburi, Ranong, Chumphon and Phangnga provinces should beware of flash floods from 29-31 May, 2009. Strong winds and waves are also expected in the Andaman Sea; therefore, mariners should proceed with caution.
