John Klobnak, chairman and chief executive officer of Laser Vision Centers Inc., said the company is focused on its red ink - not on acquisitions.

Klobnak's statements cast doubt on speculation in an Oct. 17 report by Dow Jones. Thestory mentioned Laser Vision and five other health-care firms as possible acquirers for BeaconEye Inc., a Canadian company thai operates 11 laser eye surgery clinics.

Laser Vision, according to Klobnak, is unlikely to buy any of its financially troubled competitors in the laser eye surgery industry, at least for the next several months.
