There is still a lack of black intellectuals WHERE are the black intellectuals? That was Thabo Mbeki's plaintive question a decade ago. Mbeki undermined the thrust of his own question by conflating it with his absurd policies. The question, nonetheless, remains relevant. It is probably what President Jacob Zuma was referring to when, in the course of his inauguration speech, he asked for diverse voices in the media.
