After an uproar following the announcment that one of eight new themed housing sections would be on gay issues, Texas Christian University has decided not to open them this fall.

Hundreds of blogs and media Web sites did not influence his decision, according to Chancellor Victor J. Boschini Jr. He claimed it was based on complaints by students, faculty, alumni and others that the housing pods would be "splitting up the students instead of uniting them."

No such claim was made after TCU opened five less controversial pods last year: honors, leadership, environmental issues, health and wellness and international issues.
