In an effort to address the nursing shortage, California's Western Governors University is opening the first national, accredited, online competency-based bachelors degree program to prepare students for initial licensing as an RN.
The program combines online academics with clinical simulations and practice at partner hospitals, with onsite coaches serving as WGU adjunct faculty. It begins this summer in three Southern California hospitals.
This innovative program is a partnership of WGU and 11 healthcare providers and agencies, including the Governor's Task Force for the California Nurse Education Initiative Workforce and Labor Development Agency.
