New displays, iPod docks, and more-compact designs are among the latest features in treadmills. We recently tested eight new models that had some of those innovations. They don't quite match the machines we ranked as best overall in our February 2009 issue. Here are the best choices and how the newcomers fit in:
Nonfolding models
These are the best for avid runners because they tend to have longer decks and sturdy construction. But they can be expensive. The top-rated treadmill is still the Landice L7 Cardio Trainer, $3,300. We also recommend the SportsArt TR32, $2,700, and the PaceMaster Platinum Pro VR, $2,000, a CR Best Buy.
