Byline: DAISY SHAW
Skin sloughers that look like razors and giant deodorants promise new ways to get smooth. Dermatologist Jeannette Graf takes a look at the latest body softeners.
THE PRODUCT: Rodan + Fields Enhancements Body Micro-Dermabrasion, a stick shaped like a deodorant, with polishing beads and moisturizers, that is designed to be used in the shower.
WHAT GRAF SAYS: "You need to go over your legs a few times to get enough latherwhich acts as a softening agentbut it is not at all harsh, and it leaves the skin soft and smooth."
WHAT WE SAY: The shape is clever and easy to use, but "microdermabrasion" seems like an overstatementwe found it to be a fairly light exfoliation.
THE PRODUCT: CleanLogic 4-in-1 Soap Sponge, a thin layer of bar soap wrapped around a scrubbing sponge.
WHAT GRAF SAYS: "Even though the moisturizing quality of the glycerin soap helps neutralize the abrasive sponge and eliminates a step in the shower, it should be used carefullywait until it softens up, so as not to overbuff and cause redness."
