When the San Francisco Giants step onto the field at their new downtown ballpark in 2000, fans can expect a little bit of the old and a little bit of the new.

Following the trend in new baseball facilities, architects will try to capture the feel of old-time parks, a la Camden Yards in Baltimore and Jacobs Field in Cleveland. But the $262 million Pac Bell Park should also contain some technological goodies befitting its moniker. Tom McDonald, president of the China Basin Ballpark Co., said a number of high-tech attractions could be "integrated" into the park. Under consideration are:
