Section: General News - Regional cooperation will help control the spread of cross-border diseases such as Influenza A (H1N1), Thai Prime Minister Abhisit Vejjajiva said Friday (May 8, 2009) at the regional public health ministers emergency summit, and counselled that preparedness and prompt responses on the part of the region's governments will help mitigate the impacts on society and economy.

Mr. Abhisit officially opened the meeting of public health ministers from the Association of Southeast Nations (ASEAN) countries plus China, Japan, and South Korea at the Dusit Thani Hotel in Bangkok.
