Roger Penske has pronounced Helio Castroneves's federal tax-evasion case "over.
As AutoWeek went to press on April 27, the government's prosecution team had not yet announced how it would handle the conspiracy charge the jury couldn't settle on April 17, when it found Castroneves, his sister and manager Kati Castroneves and attorney Alan Miller not guilty of all tax-evasion charges. It found Miller not guilty on the conspiracy charge but could not reach a consensus on the same count against Kati Castroneves. The mess must still play out in the court of public opinion; even the biggest stars seldom walk away with a clean hall pass.
