Having successfully recaptured the flavor of iconic Triumphs of the 1960s and "70s with its neoclassic Bonneville, the reconstituted motorcycle manufacturer is free to update the concept. Thus, the 2009 Triumph Bonneville has Keihin fuel injection, cast-alloy wheels and modern-looking handlebar switchgear.

New for 2009 is a Special Edition model, featuring a tachometer, a chromed tank badge and brushed-alloy engine casings in addition to the above-mentioned equipment. Specific SE colors are solid black or a two-tone finish with what Triumph calls dark Pacific Blue and Fusion White. All Bonneville models, except for the pure-retro T100, now wear megaphone-style exhausts previously seen on the cafe-racer Thruxton model but at a less radical angle to accommodate saddle bags.
