Franchitti Claims First Win of 2009.(NEWS)

With the focus on the return of Helio Castroneves, Dario Franchitti stepped back into the IndyCar Series spotlight by winning at Long Beach.
Franchitti's 2008 NASCAR experiment was short and unsatisfactory, which made this trip to victory lane all the sweeter. The Scotsman also scored his first win in the event, giving his wife, actress Ashley Judd, a 41st-birthday gift. Franchitti's margin of victory over Castroneves stand-in Will Power was 3.318 seconds.
Franchitti, the 2007 series champion, was proud to get his first win in the unified series. It was his ninth IndyCar win and his first road or street-circuit victory since the August 2002 CART race at Montreal.
