Byline: PHIL BERG
Home Shopping Network sales genius Tony Little, a serious bodybuilder who turned a series of debilitating car accidents 20 years ago into a booming business of getting Americans in shape, has a soft spot for monster horsepower.
The Ohio native grew up driving and lusting after American muscle cars, and the first car he owned was a 1967 Pontiac GTO. His brother, he said, had an even cooler car, a new Oldsmobile 442.
"I drove a Chevelle SS and a Nova, out on the country roads. That's all we had to do, he recalls.
When he had the chance, Little bought a few cars to drive around his adopted hometown of St. Petersburg, Fla. There he met Al Wiseman, a well-known classic-car dealer in Tampa, who, after years of persuading, sold Little a custom museum-only "54 Chevy that he has used in ads for his products.
If Little has to go to the 7-Eleven to buy an energy drink, he'll drive a muscle car, such as his "68 Z28 Camaro or "67 GTO. They normally sit on modern rims and radials, which makes them easier to drive.
"I have the original rims and everything, but I just like to drive them, he explains.
