ASEAN to firm up flu rapid response system.

Health ministers of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) will meet this Friday to come up with a rapid response system against an Influenza A(H1N1) outbreak that could hit the region any day.

The virus has already entered East Asia, with Hong Kong and South Korea each reporting one confirmed case late last week.

The meeting, to be held on May 8 in Bangkok, Thailand, will be chaired by the Philippines. Japan, China and South Korea have also been invited to the meeting.
