There is no ambiguity about the political allegiance of the household as a Trinamul banner greets visitors at the door; but the fact remains that Kusumba has slipped out of Trinamul's grip into the Left Front fold in the panchayat elections.

As Miss Mamata Banerjee's birthplace, Kusumba, about eight kilometres west of Rampurhat town was a rallying point for her party.
