(From Bristol Evening Post)
Thornbury have spent the off-season planning how to avoid a repeat of last summer's battle against relegation in West of England Premier Two.
The South Gloucestershire outfit won their last two matches to stay up with skipper Richard Trotman hitting 117 not out in the penultimate match against Lansdown.
This term, Trotman has strengthened the side by signing Almondsbury captain Greg Stephens and wicketkeeper-batsman Stephen Caple, who has played minor county cricket for Herefordshire.
Gloucestershire fast bowler Anthony Ireland will also be available to Thornbury if he is not needed at the County Ground.
Trotman, who is now in his third season as captain, said: "I'm hoping, and expecting, not to be in the same position as last year and have relegation issues.
"The youngsters have hopefully progressed and they will be contributing more than before.
