Nearly 40 people took part in a charity swim at Keynsham Leisure Centre.
They were among 15,000 across Britain who were raising money for Marie Curie Cancer Care and The Swimathon Foundation in Swimathon 2009.
Keynsham Leisure Centre joined the annual challenge for the first time this year.
Centre manager Steve Williams said: "It was our first time taking part and it was a really exciting, inspiring event with supporters cheering on swimmers for their individual challenges and team events.
