Heart surgeons and doctors are getting on their bikes to support a new dedicated cardiac hospital in the city.
The team from the Bristol Royal Infirmary will cycle more than 200 miles, touring all the hospitals that will benefit from the new Bristol Heart Institute (BHI) when it opens on Tuesday, May 12.
Money raised through the challenge will go towards art work and other elements to enhance the patient experience as well as paying for hi-tech equipment that will take the work of doctors into the future.
The team, led by consultant cardiologist Julian Strange, will start their cycle at Yeovil District Hospital on June 6 and will visit Taunton, Weston-super-Mare, Swindon, Gloucester and Bath, before finishing at the BHI.
Cyclists are encouraged to join the team for the last stages along the Bristol to Bath cycle path for a GBP5 donation, or GBP10 for a family, and whatever they can raise through sponsorship.
