(From Bristol Evening Post)
Nailsworth has at least two of everything, it seems - butchers, bakers, hardware stores and curry houses.
The Passage to India is well known but what of the Balti Nailsworth on the other side of town? Founded as the Bangladeshi Balti by Mohamed Kurshid Akhtar, originally as a takeaway, it has had a restaurant for several years and has built up a loyal following too.
Our first impression on arrival was that space is on the tight side but thoughtful interior decoration conveys diners away from a small upstairs room, in the corner of Somerfield car park, to a more convivial dining experience.
Sadly on arrival, it wasn't made clear where we should sit, even though we had booked a table.
It was a little annoying to be asked if we would mind moving to another table as we waited for our starters. We chose our table, although unfortunately it was next to a draughty window.
Standard starters of onion bhaji (GBP2.75) and tandoori chicken (GBP3) were adequate and avoided the classic curry night trap of stuffing yourself before the main courses arrive.
