Chunghwa Telecom reported first-quarter revenues of TWD 49.1 billion, down 3.6 percent from a year earlier, while net profit edged up 0.7 percent to TWD 10.8 billion, helped by lower taxes. EBITDA declined 10.7 percent year-on-year to TWD 23.4 billion, with the margin dropping to 47.6 percent from 51.3. The company blamed the EBITDA decline on higher operating costs, led by personnel, as well as the lower sales.
