COLOMBO, May 1 Asia Pulse - Sri Lanka is close to finalizing a US$500 million long-term loan from Libya, the central bank governor Nivard Cabraal said.
Cabraal is visiting Libya for discussions on the government-to-government credit.
In a telephone interview from Rome on Thursday, Cabraal said Sri Lanka was negotiating a 15-year year loan with a bullet repayment and he was flying to Tripoli on Friday to finalize the loan.
He was expecting the loan to be wrapped up at a "maximum within 10 days".
The loan was first announced following a state visit by Sri Lankan President Mahinda Rajapaksa to Libya earlier in April.
