- Malaysia's biggest power producer, Tenaga Nasional Bhd (5347), plans to raise ringgit-denominated loans to finance a US$2 billion (RM7 billion) submarine transmission line carrying electricity from Sarawak to the Peninsula, its chief said.
- DiGI.com Bhd (6947) yesterday reported a 5 per cent lower net profit of RM275.4 million for the first quarter to March 2009 against RM290.1 million in the previous corresponding period.
- K&N Kenanga Holdings Bhd, a financial services group, will have to compete aggressively to expand its business now that the government has liberalised the financial services sector further, said the group's director Tengku Zafrul Aziz.
- Bank Negara Malaysia (BNM) may have applied the brakes on its monetary easing stance, but economists warn that the recovery path in the second half of 2009 could be patchy with the potential impact of the swine flu.
