KUDUS, May 1 Asia pulse - Langgar Dalem villagers in Indonesia have launched a protest against a PT Excelcomindo Pratama Tbk (XL)(JSX:EXCL) cellular telephone tower that was built in a densely-populated area without a public nuisance licence.
"The people have been patient for the last 12 years, since the tower was built in 1998. But the management of XL as the tower`s owner, had yet to show a public nuisance licence to the local population," one of the villagers said in Kudus Thursday.
He said the tower was a threat to the people living under it. "Even the land on which the tower will be erected is quite unstable, and near to the Gelis river, so that it may collapse at any time," he said.
