The American Bar Association suggests using several resources to find and retain a corporate lawyer. Its booklet, How to Choose & Use a Lawyer, offers the following advice:

The Martindale-Hubbell Law Directory has a roster of bar members in the United States and Canada. The directory contains brief biographical sketches of the lawyers and describes the specialties practiced by the firms. These include banking, corporate, mergers and acquisition, tax, health care, securities, and intellectual property, among others.
