Newport Beach, CA-- Employees from McCarthy Building Companies of Newport Beach and its local construction sites recently donated approximately 1,000 pounds of much needed food and supplies to the Orange County Rescue Mission.
This philanthropy was a part of McCarthy's "Heart Hats" community service program that enables employees to dedicate time and resources to community involvement on paid workdays.
McCarthy Office Manager Linda Osborn spearheaded this food drive after she read an article about the Orange County Rescue Mission's dire need of food and other donations. The article's focus was to "Give a little bit of love to the Village of Hope" on Valentine's Day as a part of the Rescue Mission's "Heart for Hunger" program.
"The article made me think about Valentine's Day in a different way this year, considering our poor economy and the number of people out of work," said Osborn. She decided to act on her feelings and began a campaign to collect food and supplies from McCarthy employees.
