INTRODUCTION
We report on physicians' beliefs, confidence and clinical practice relative to the provision of smoking cessation interventions to in-patients in northwestern (NW) Ontario rural hospitals. Tobacco use is the leading preventable cause of premature morbidity and mortality in developed countries, (1,2) and a substantial number of hospital admissions in Canada are attributable to tobacco-related diseases.
