In reply to the letter written by Mr Alan Craddock, may I make it quite clear that I have never suggested that the Health and Safety Executive does not do a good job.
However, what I have ridiculed are the occasions when some authority has refused permission for a harmless and innocent activity to take place, using health and safety as their excuse.
A friend of mine was in a pantomime in Bedworth and instructed not to throw sweets into the audience for reasons of health and safety.
This is a part of pantomime tradition and I have yet to learn of anyone being hurt by a flying toffee.
