A1 GP: At Portugal's Algarve Circuit, IndyCar Series driver Robert Doornbos won the sprint race for Team Netherlands. Adam Carroll (Ireland) was second, and Filipe Albuquerque (Portugal) was third. IndyCar's Marco Andretti finished 12th. In the feature race, Neel Jani won, and Carroll and Albuquerque again rounded out the podium. Doornbos (electrical fire) and Andretti (collision) failed to finish.
AMERICAN LE MANS SERIES: Scott Sharp and David Brabham (Acura ARX-02a) claimed the LMP1 and overall win in St. Petersburg, Fla., on April 4. Luis Diaz and Adrian Fernandez (Acura ARX-01B) were second overall and won in LMP2, in front of Chris Dyson and Guy Smith (Lola B09/86-Mazda). In GT2, Patrick Long and Jorg Bergmeister (Porsche 911 GT3 RSR) beat Tommy Milner and Dirk Muller (BMW M3) and Ian James and Dominik Farnbacher (Panoz Esperante GTLM).
FIRESTONE INDY LIGHTS: Also at St. Petersburg on April 4 and 5, Junior Strous won race one. Jonathan Summerton was second, and J. R. Hildebrand was third. Strous won race two, with Sebastian Saavedra and James Hinchcliffe completing the top three.
