In this issue are included four articles that I hope you will enjoy reading. The first article reviews the records of Sudan national prevalence surveys (1979-2006) and others, that have clearly shown historical gradual shift in FGM practice, form the severest type of infibulation to the milder one of clitoridectomy and perhaps to non-circumcision.
The second article deals with the dilemma of FGM typology and terminology, with special reference to Sudan. The article challenges the validity of WHO typology with special reference to Sudan. Also, the article suggest the adoption of pertinent typologies that should observe the differences, in the culture and norms of the different societies in which FGM is practiced.
