On March 10, the Norman (Oklahoma) City Council presented Keith Wellman with a Civilian Service Medal for saving the lives of two women involved in a serious car accident. Wellman will share the honor with his two children, who also acted heroically.
The March 11 Norman Transcript relates that on November 8, 2008, Wellman was driving with his son, Chris, 16, and his daughter, Noel, 13, when they witnessed a car with two women in it strike a light pole. The car overturned, and the passenger was thrown onto and wedged on top of the driver, preventing the driver from breathing.
