Stressing the concept of customized products, Corel during the next year is planning a round of new hardware and software systems, plus a new edition of its productivity suite.

Whereas market leader Microsoft has delivered a one-suite-fits-all approach with its Office product, Corel is retooling its WordPerfect suite for different markets, company officials said. An enterprise suite, due later this year, will augment the editions that Corel offers geared for the legal and medical markets.

The company also is planning to retool the technology it used for its discarded Office for Java product into a corporate productivity suite, code-named Alta.
