Celebrities have a reputation for being deeply insecure, but we imagine they enjoy a compliment as much as the rest of us do. At the Gotham Independent Film Awards, a Museum of the Moving Image gala, and the Calvin Klein fashion show, we asked them about the nicest thing anyone's said to them.
Not surprisingly, it all starts on the surface. "I like when people tell me my skin looks nice," said Christina Ricci. And Donald Trump said, apparently without irony, that he's been told "that I'm the best-looking man in America and Melania is the best-looking woman. We get that a lot."
Actors aren't immune to praise for their work. "I've been told by people who have experienced getting caught in the zipper, like in There's Something About Mary, that mine was a very realistic portrayal," said Ben Stiller, adding, "and that's nice to know about a total stranger."
Others will take any accolade they can get. Jack McBrayer of 30 Rock said, "As long as people aren't throwing garbage at me, I'm not real particular."
