from THE JAKARTA POST -- SATURDAY, APRIL 11, 2009 Humans were not the only ones affected by the Situ Gintung dam burst that claimed nearly 100 lives a couple of weeks ago.

Five dogs rescued from the calamity have been given refuge in a small office in Kemang, South Jakarta, after days without food and shelter.

The dogs are joining other pets, including cats, at the Jakarta Animal Aid Network's (JAAN) office. They are stressed and reluctant to play with other dogs. Pram, one of the dogs, is the most stressed. He is hesitant to trust a new master and barks at strangers.

"He is still stressed out so he's a bit fierce," said Sudarno, an animal keeper in …
