Z28 LIVES, SORT OF

Chevrolet says it won't build a high-output Z28 version of its all-new 2010 Camaro, but the Hennessey Performance Engineering HPE550 Camaro looks as if it should be capable of filling that hole. Packing a supercharged 562-hp, 557-lb-ft version of the 6.2-liter V8 in the Camaro SS, the 2010 HPE550 starts production this month. The HPE550 package adds $24,950 to the price of a $31,000 Camaro SS, and additional optionsincluding 705-, 850- and 1,000-hp versionscan punch the upgrade price to $50,000.
