For some, Spring Break means lounging on the beach. For others, the last thing they want is sandif it's the kind you find in a golf-course bunker.
A Spring Break golfing trip can be therapeutic for hackers who have suffered through winter in the northern climes. Call it a reward for once again staring down Mother Nature's frigid worst. Plus, a week or so on the golf course can jump-start your game for the coming season.
Numerous golf resorts offer great play, but we wanted a golf road tripthe chance to combine top-notch courses with top-notch roads in between. We found the Robert Trent Jones Golf Trail in Alabama.
The "trail runs nearly the length of the state and features 11 locations, 26 courses and 369 championship golf holes (468 holes if you count par-three and short courses). All but two of the public courses, funded by the Retirement Systems of Alabama, were designed in the early 1990s by famed golf-course architect Robert Trent Jones Sr.; a couple were finished by his company after his death at age 94 in 2000.
