Group Tasks Niger Delta States on Oil Producing Areas Commissions.

A pressure group, Niger Delta Peace Initiative (NDPI), has charged the Federal Government to compel states in the Niger Delta that are yet to set up oil producing areas development commissions to do so.

It also noted that activities of such commissions in Ondo, Delta, Edo, Imo and Abia have contributed in bringing peace to those states.

In a statement issued by its Coordinator and Secretary, Chief John Aganbi and Prince Matthew Itsekure respectively in Ughelli, Delta State, the group urged the government to increase the 13% derivation funds given Niger Delta states to enable the commissions do more in their various states. …
