TECHNICAL DIFFICULTIES are hindering compliance with a covenant signed last February by Metro Manila mayors to implement a simplified standard business registration process, a check up to late last week with various mayors' offices showed.

Jeffe G. Minglana, head of Taguig business permit and licensing office, said that while Mayor Sigfrido R. Tinga has given an order to simplify business registration, the city has yet to link up to the online business registration systems of the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) for single proprietorship and of the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) for corporations and partnerships. …
