LOTTO rapist Iorworth Hoare could lose more than pounds 1m of his fortune in a landmark settlement with a victim, it was reported yesterday.

The settlement comes months after a 78-year-old retired teacher was given permission by a High Court judge to bring a compensation claim against Iorworth Hoare.

Hoare, 56, who lives in Darras Hall, Ponteland, spent 30 years in jail from 1973 for one rape, three attempted rapes and two indecent assaults. He scooped pounds 7.2m on the National Lottery after buying a ticket while on weekend leave from prison in 2004.
